Schedule Your Consultation

During your consultation, we’ll discuss your goals, your dog’s temperament, and whether owner-trained detection work is the right fit for your team.

Deb and Luna at Great lakes crossing, Outdoor world

Hi, I'm Deb Duvall, founder of Gluten Detected Service Dog Training. I know choosing the right trainer is an important decision, and I'm looking forward to learning more about you, your dog, and your goals.

What Happens During Your Consultation?

Your consultation is a one-on-one meeting designed to help you understand what training would look like for you and your dog.

  • Your allergy concerns and training goals

  • Your dog’s age, temperament, confidence, and motivation

  • Whether your dog may be a good candidate

  • How Zoom training works

  • What owner-trained service dog training involves

  • Public access expectations

  • Timeline and next steps

  • Questions you may have before beginning

Is My Dog a Good Candidate?

Not every dog is suited for allergen detection service dog work. A good candidate is usually curious, confident, motivated, willing to work, and able to recover from distractions. Breed matters less than temperament, drive, and the relationship between dog and handler.

During your consultation, we’ll talk honestly about your dog’s strengths, challenges, and whether this type of training is realistic for your team.

How the Consultation Works

Your consultation is held live over Zoom, allowing us to meet no matter where you live.

Before your appointment, you'll receive instructions on how to prepare.

During the consultation, we'll discuss your goals, answer your questions, and evaluate your dog together.

If appropriate, I may ask to observe your dog's behavior during the session.

Should you decide to move forward with training, your consultation fee will be applied toward your first month's training, making your consultation essentially free.

There is no pressure to enroll. The purpose of the consultation is to help you make an informed decision about whether allergen detection training is the right fit for you and your dog.
