Is My Dog a Good Candidate?
Not every dog is suited for gluten detection or allergen detection service dog work. A good candidate is usually curious, confident, motivated, willing to work, and able to recover well from distractions. Breed matters less than the individual dog’s temperament, drive, confidence, and ability to develop a strong working partnership with their handler.

During your consultation, we’ll talk honestly about your dog’s strengths, challenges, and whether this type of training is realistic for your team.
How the Consultation Works
Your consultation is held live over Zoom, making it easy to get started with personalized online service dog training no matter where you live.
Before your appointment, you'll receive instructions on how to prepare.
During the consultation, we'll discuss your goals, answer your questions, and evaluate your dog together.
If appropriate, I may ask to observe your dog's behavior during the session.

What Happens After the Consultation?
If you decide to move forward with training, we’ll create a personalized training plan based on your dog, your goals, and the type of scent detection work you need. Your program may focus on gluten detection, alpha-gal detection, or other food allergen detection while also developing the service dog skills needed for your individual situation.

Gluten Detection & Food Allergy Service Dog Training Costs
Gluten Detected Service Dogs offers personalized, one-on-one Zoom training nationwide. Our owner-handler training programs are designed for individuals who want to train their own dogs for gluten detection, alpha-gal detection, or other food allergen detection.
Part-Time Training — $400 per month
Includes one private Zoom training session per week, approximately one hour per session. This program is best suited for more experienced dog handlers who are comfortable practicing independently between sessions and progressing with less frequent instruction.
Full-Time Training — $600 per month
Includes two private Zoom training sessions per week, approximately one hour per session. This program is ideal for handlers who prefer more frequent instruction, guidance, and feedback throughout the training process.
Both programs include individualized training guidance, home practice assignments, and video review between sessions. Training timelines vary depending on the dog, handler, and detection tasks being taught.
Training Evaluation & Consultation — $100
Your initial consultation is a personalized, one-on-one Zoom session where we'll discuss your training goals, evaluate your dog's suitability, answer your questions, and determine the best training path for you and your dog.
If you begin training within 30 days of your consultation, your $100 consultation fee will be credited toward your first month of training.
